What Is Trabeculectomy Surgery?
Trabeculectomy creates a new drainage channel in the wall of the eye (sclera), allowing excess fluid (aqueous humour) to escape from the eye and collect in a small reservoir called a bleb under the upper eyelid. This brings intraocular pressure (IOP) down to a safe level, slowing or halting further optic nerve damage.

Recovery & What to Expect
Vision may be blurry for several weeks during healing. Anti-inflammatory and antibiotic drops are critical post-operatively. Regular follow-up visits allow Dr. Mickey to adjust sutures and manage the bleb. Full stabilisation occurs over 4–8 weeks. Heavy lifting and eye rubbing must be avoided during this time.
