Frequently Asked Questions

The best care for your eyes includes regular comprehensive eye examinations, protecting your eyes from UV exposure with quality sunglasses, maintaining a balanced diet rich in vitamins A, C, and E, staying hydrated, following the 20-20-20 rule during screen time (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds), and promptly consulting an eye specialist if you notice any changes in your vision. Annual eye check-ups are recommended even if you have no symptoms, as many eye conditions develop gradually without early warning signs.

Taking good care of your eyes involves several daily habits: wear protective eyewear when necessary, avoid rubbing your eyes, ensure adequate lighting when reading or working, take regular breaks from screens, remove contact lenses before sleeping, avoid smoking, manage conditions like diabetes and hypertension that can affect eye health, and schedule annual eye check-ups even if you have no symptoms. Additionally, wearing sunglasses with UV protection outdoors, keeping your hands clean before touching your eyes, and maintaining a healthy weight all contribute to long-term eye wellness.

While natural methods cannot reverse conditions like myopia or cataracts, you can support your eye health through a nutrient-rich diet including leafy greens, fish, eggs, nuts, and citrus fruits. Regular exercise improves blood circulation to the eyes. Practising the 20-20-20 rule, getting 7-8 hours of sleep, reducing screen time, spending time outdoors, and staying well-hydrated can also help maintain healthy vision. However, it is important to consult an ophthalmologist for any vision concerns rather than relying solely on natural remedies, as some conditions require prompt medical intervention.

Blurry vision can result from various causes including refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism), cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, eye infections, diabetes-related eye changes, age-related macular degeneration, or eye strain from prolonged screen use. Less common causes include corneal conditions, optic nerve problems, or side effects of certain medications. Sudden blurry vision can sometimes indicate a medical emergency such as retinal detachment or acute glaucoma. If you experience persistent or sudden changes in vision, schedule an eye examination promptly for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

The approach to restoring clear vision depends on the underlying cause. Refractive errors can be corrected with prescription glasses, contact lenses, or laser procedures like LASIK. Cataracts are treated with surgery to replace the cloudy lens with an artificial intraocular lens. Dry eyes may improve with lubricating drops, warm compresses, and lifestyle changes. Glaucoma requires ongoing management with eye drops or surgery to prevent further vision loss. The first step is always a comprehensive eye examination to determine the exact cause and the most suitable treatment for your specific condition.
