What Is Glaucoma Shunt / Tube Surgery?
A small silicone tube is inserted into the eye and connected to a plate fixed to the outer wall of the eye. Fluid drains through the tube to the plate, where it is absorbed. Devices such as the Ahmed Glaucoma Valve include a pressure-sensitive valve to prevent over-drainage.

Recovery & What to Expect
A temporary pressure rise may occur in the first 4–6 weeks while the drainage capsule matures. Pressure-lowering drops may be needed during this period. Full pressure control is usually achieved by 6–8 weeks post-operatively.
